6other people wounded, police say

A pregnant woman was killed and six other people were wounded in a shooting inside a Spirit Halloween store at a shopping mall in Fairfield, California, on Friday night. Police were still searching for the shooter on Saturday.

The gunfire broke out at about 8:30 p.m. inside the store at the Solano Town Center, in a city between San Francisco and Sacramento. Police identified the woman who died as 31-year-old Constance Hages and said her family told them she was pregnant. Several of the wounded, including a teenager, were in critical condition, and two people were treated and released from the hospital.

Police said early evidence suggests the shooting stemmed from a targeted incident involving one suspect, though it was not clear whether any of the victims were the intended targets. Detectives were reviewing video footage and other evidence to identify the person responsible, and the FBI sent an evidence team to help. No arrest had been announced as of Saturday.

Witnesses described shoppers running in panic after hearing several rounds of shots. The mall stayed open on Saturday but canceled a planned trick-or-treat event, and Spirit Halloween said the store would stay closed until further notice. This is a developing story.
