33killed, according to Houthi health officials

Houthi health officials said Sunday that Saudi-led airstrikes on a village east of Yemen's capital, Sanaa, had killed 33 people and wounded 39. A Houthi spokesman said the dead included men, women and children. Saudi Arabia had not commented on that account.

The spokesman, Anees Alasbahi, said the strikes hit Al-Shariya village and that the toll had risen as rescue work continued. Houthi media circulated footage that it said showed damage at the site and wounded people in hospital. Those figures come from authorities aligned with the Houthis, who control Sanaa, and could not be independently verified in initial international reporting.

The same day, Saudi officials described an attempted attack on Riyadh. The kingdom's Energy Ministry said falling debris damaged an administrative building belonging to state oil company Saudi Aramco. It reported no injuries or deaths. A news-agency witness described blown-out windows at the Aramco Tower in the city's financial district. The Saudi-led coalition said it had intercepted Houthi missiles headed toward the Riyadh area.

The Houthis said they had launched missile and drone attacks against Saudi targets, including oil facilities, Riyadh's airport and military positions. Fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-aligned Houthis resumed this year after a long truce, with each side accusing the other of deadly attacks inside Yemen as well.

The two Sunday reports — a high death toll claimed in Yemen and material damage acknowledged in Riyadh — point to a sharp new burst in that conflict. They do not, by themselves, establish who struck which target in every disputed incident, and the Yemen casualty numbers remain a Houthi account.
